Archaeological Data Concluding Remarks Introductory Remarks p The Kulaman region, a dissected plateau of the southwestern part of the ^U)vince of Cotabato, Island of Mindanao, lies at an altitude of more than ,0°0 feet. 1 Due to this elevation, the climate is cool and such crops as the white Potatoes [Solanum tuberosum, Linn.), coffee (Arabian sp.), Kentucky beans, grow quite well in the region. To the north the Plateau is girded by tall fountain ranges. They consist mostly of limestone that, together with the ease of water percolation, favours the formation of caverns and subterranean Passage ways. 2 Acknowledgements. Antiola, Agoot, Navarro, and Topia) ; and other ends (Christians and Manobos) who in one way or another extended help to the members the expedition. 1 This elevation is mentioned in a report made by Diomedes Flores (see foot- e 3) to the Bureau of Soils (Philippines,) of which he is a technician. Mr. Flores had s een m area in 1951 aS a member of an agricultural survey party. The caves he had w n ’ b °wever, are not the same ones explored by the expedition.
