Nei popoli niloti e nilo-camiti ci sono quattro forme di uccisione di 
Persone che si possono spiegare con la religione o con la magia : 
a) Il sacrifizio di vittime umane in circostanze molto solenni o in Deca 
goni disperate (la richiesta imperativa di uno spirito particolarmente potente e 
Maligno, una grave epidemia, una siccità prolungata o anche una guerra). 
h) Il sacrifizio di vittime umane - sepolte generalmente vive e quindi 
fatte morire per lenta soffocazione - in occasione della morte violenta o naturale 
persone sacre, del re o del capo. 
c) L'uccisione rituale di persone sacre - il retìi, «re sacro», degli Scilluk 
e fi heny hith «il capo della lancia» dei Denca - quando incominciano ad invec 
chiare, affinchè la forza unita alle loro persone passi ai rispettivi successori 
Piatta, come a loro volta l’avevano ereditata prima. 
d) L’uccisione del capo o dello stregone ritenuti capaci di causare o di 
fumare la pioggia, quando agiscono contro l’interesse del loro popolo. 
Nel presente lavoro studio solo le due prime forme che sono veri sacrifizi 
Ul hani ; la terza è un’offerta - volontaria o obbligata - che una persona sacra 
f a della sua vita per il bene del popolo. 
E finalmente l’uccisione di chi ferma la pioggia è l’esplosione dell’ira 
c °Hettiva che castiga severamente lo stregone colpevole d’aver fatto molto male 
a tutto il popolo.
